Spectrum Healthcare Participates in the 2010 Susan G. Komen Race
ST. LOUIS, MO - June 14, 2010 - SHR participated as a corporate sponsor at the St. Louis 2010 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on June 14. SHR corporate team members, family and friends have participated in the event for several years. We are humbled to take part in the enormous efforts to battle breast cancer; especially touched since we have two survivors working here at the corporate office.
Last year, the Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure® raised $3.25 million in net proceeds with almost 67,000 participants. 75% of the net proceeds stayed in metro St. Louis to fund education, screening and treatment programs for the medically underserved, while the remaining 25% supports breast cancer research.
Do you know how the Susan G. Komen organization was started?
Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became the Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. An international organization with a network of volunteers working through local affiliates and Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® events to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality of care for all and energizing science to find the cures.
