Spectrum Healthcare Resources Provides Aid During COVID-19

May 26th, 2020

During this height of the COVID-19 pandemic, resource mobilization and adequate staffing levels in facilities providing care to patients were concerns for many health officials. As SPECTRUM® Healthcare Resources (Spectrum) executed its business continuity plan, a call to assist in mitigating these concerns was made. Spectrum responded promptly and strategically to bring additional healthcare providers to facilities in New York and Florida. The company launched a nationwide marketing campaign to engage interested healthcare workers and screened and vetted qualified candidates.

Spectrum moved quickly to meet the need for additional staff at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, one of the epicenters of the outbreak. Spectrum presented more than 60 candidates for consideration, including critically needed respiratory therapists, registered nurses and emergency medical technicians. Once the client accepted candidates, Spectrum arranged their travel and lodging in a timely and efficient manner.

As Florida prepared for a potential surge of COVID-19 cases, Spectrum’s team quickly stepped up to support the Florida Division of Emergency Management in turning the Miami/Dade Fairgrounds into a 250-bed temporary hospital. Spectrum, in collaboration with D&Y and TeamHealth, immediately began presenting candidates to fill critical needs, including critical care and infectious disease physicians, advanced practice clinicians, behavioral health professionals, nurses, respiratory therapists and certified nursing assistants. As needs shifted to the Broward County field hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Spectrum quickly mobilized resources to support this location, as well.

One of Spectrum’s own, George Earley describes his time treating COVID-19 patients in Brooklyn, New York. George Earley is an experienced registered respiratory therapist and former military service member who willingly stepped up to provide much needed care at the Maimonides Medical Center.
